The mission of Harvard's Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences is to be at the forefront of scientific discovery of the Earth system and to help address pressing societal issues through innovative, interdisciplinary research and education. Congratulations to Jessica Creveling and Allison Gale, recipients of the inaugural Shaler Teaching Awards. Named in honor of Nathaniel Southgate Shaler, the first recipient of a geology degree at Harvard and a beloved teacher himself, the award is given to honor excellence in teaching amongst EPS graduate students. Great work Jessica and Allie!
